The Ancient Mystery of Antarctica | Grand Theories

Well, the Arctic too...

Why does the ice always attract humanity's strangest impulses? From the ancient mythology of Hyperborea, to the adventures of Pytheas, to the opinions of John Dee and Gerardus Mercator on King Arthur's Arctic, to the inquests of human evolution on a "cooling globe" by French intellectuals, to even the mysticism of 1900s political radicals. There is an electricity to the magnetic poles which attracts the fringes of human thought (sometimes quite famous). This has produced a sort of "rejected history" which sits in the shadows as the broken or lost bits of what was ultimately accepted. Due to its mystery, the ice of Antarctica has kept these jury-rigged beliefs better than any other land. It is the "Inventio Fortunata" of lost mythology or pseudo-history.

Is that why the ideas of giants in the Arctic and Antarctica was retained for so long? As fantastical ideals fade away, they retreat to the corners of the Earth only to be revived in strange places. There is the historical, scientific, and mystical vaults of Antarctica's "Polar Mythology". Polar Mythology is a collection of ideas more defined by "what is not" rather than "what is". In human knowledge, it was once a booming subject before the Arctic and Antarctic turned up (mostly) empty.

Yet... It does not go so easily into that Arctic night. What remains in the ice?

Take this video as more as touching on every out there idea you've ever heard. I, ah, "learned" some things researching it? Not much that I believe. Pronunciation not withholding.

It's criminal, the lack of subscribers you have...For the quality you put forth, I'd expect no less than a million.

Hey! I came across your channel via the empty internet video, which I found very interesting, well-documented, and greatly paced. All your content seems ad hoc, versatile, and deeply researched.

This is my second video. You have gained a new subscriber, mate, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

The effort in research and editing quality are stellar, your cultural references, and artistic inclusions perfect, the narration well paced. This is surprisingly digest while very dense. I have surprised myself with the need to pause and take notes of authors, works, or dates for further research.

I haven't stumbled upon such quality content in a while. This is refreshing and wholesome.

Keep up the excellent work, and have a good one.

Great video!
Recently I've been exploring the "Earth Expansion Theory" rabbit hole, and I've gotta say, there are some things that now seem glaringly obvious about the way every continent fits together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Thule is something that we were taught here in Iceland was an old name for our land.

(I may have missed it, but I don't think I did)

Captain Cook? His second voyage? 60, 000 miles? Antarctic Coastline?

You left that out.

(Or DID you?)

There's plenty of info on the topic and lots of discussion; I find it peculiar that it would not be mentioned, as if history is being re-written by exclusion... Oops, there I go typing out loud again!

It deserves just as much attention as Admiral Byrd's endeavors... IMO.

That's ALL.

The book of First Enoch gives many descriptions of landscapes, astronomy, calendars, and portals as well, divine realms -both good and evil.

Out of Byrds diary he explicitly says that he flew down into the earth to discover an inner earth He was a highly decorated military officer not just some explorer.

The best thing You Tube has done today is exposing me to your incredibly thorough and fascinating research, videos, and channel on general. Thank you for all your hard work!

There is something melancholic in how so many books of the past are now but echoes, shadows, preserved by other books quoting other books quoting the original source. The whispers from murmurs from echoes.

I lived in Alaska for 45 years becoming a pilot at 17. When the California kids were taking dads corvette out on Friday nights in the 70s-80s We were flying dads Cessna 182. Worked at Cat performing maintenence on every village runway grader. I can say I’ve seen close to every acre of Alaska. Summers are similar to Colorado Spring reaching 90 F snow falls in Oct. and melts in May. Summer is 25 - 7 daylight winters have 4 hours of daylight for a month then reverses. Antactica is off limits to any normal human since 1945. One must ask why? Oil is not from Fossils it is created at earths mantle similar to water. They realized how rich they could become if we thought we would run out. Have a nice day. Jesus sits at Gods Right hand.

I value videos like this beyond measure. With so much mental garbage on YouTube’s algorithm, this is a welcomed reprieve. Thank you for speaking to us nerds in a familiar language. 🙏

Very interesting, as usual. Funny how a one hour video consecrated to Antarctica is filled to two thirds with content about the North Pole, but it does make sense~ Good to see you talk about Nicholas Roerich too! He's my favorite painter and it's nice to see him getting some recognition. I don't really have much interesting to add, apart from that your french is absolutely dreadful, I found it adorable! Keep up the great work friend.

1st time to the channel. Ultimately intrigued, albeit tired and lacking concentration today but will re-watch soon to absorb some very interesting content. Do you find the Antarctic Treaty somewhat odd, with its veil of secrecy, no fly zone and extremely high profile individuals guest list?
