My first "serious" digital camera, was a Casio QV-R52. The photographs from it were beautiful and it went everywhere with me. It was a real joy to use.

The quality of the pictures are in the photographer's eye. What a great set of photos you have made in this video!
The snake game, how much time we spent with our Nokia phones back then 😂

Hi David, this phenomenona surrounding compact digicams making a come back isn't as recent as people are being led to believe.

I've been using some early digital cameras (circa 2000 to 2008) for several years now. Apart from my Lumix compact, the smallest digicam is my Olympus Camedia C-4040. Otherwise, I'm currently using a Sony Cyber-shot R1, a Sony F828, Sony H1, H2, H5, Konica Minolta Z5 and Z6 and the Minolta Dimage 7i. All these cameras (esp the Sony R1) are just great to use.

I've just acquired a Fujifilm S100FS (2008), which I'm just climbing the learning curve with. The S100FS is one complex beast of a bridge camera, early results are just superb. Prices of used vintage gear is climbing as popularity is growing for these older CCD cameras.
Nice video. Many thanks.
Regards Rob.

Very nice idea for video.
A few months ago I was taking a photos as the same time with Nikon Coolpix L25 and Samsung S23. Nikon is miles behind Samsung, but there is something special about camera, cameras have some magic.

AWESOME! Cost me hundreds of hours. Totally addicted. Edited the code when I upgraded to a 486DX66 because it was too fast. I would forget about social media with that camera!

Finally I found and heard from you a great definition why these cameras are so appreciated by two generations of people at once. Those who have briefly noticed this trend for old digital cameras usually only grumble at the younger generation, for whom it is just a whim, but for older people it is a truly more powerful nostalgic experience. All these compacts like Canon Ixus, G2-5-11-12, Nikon P5000-6000-7000-7100... - I chose my first camera at the time when they were announced, they were written about in text reviews, discussed on forums. At that time, of course, I could not afford to try them all, but now I can finally afford not to choose. "Which is better, Canon G12 or Nikon P7000?" To hell with it, I'll take both and compare as I please! =)

Some of the old digicams do have a nice look to the photos. I have a old Sony cybershot 6 mpixel with a Zeiss tessar lens. The photos are lovely and unlike the software AI of modern phones which can look too artificial

Love it!!! I actually found your channel when considering rebuying a LX2 or LX3, and you did vids of using an LX1 and LX3 I think. I eventually decided on the lower-fi Lumix FX01 and just love it. Naturally vignettes everything, under exposes, has a faded film color profile. Its perfect. Thanks for your inspiration via vids like this one.

I'm a bit behind on my viewing David, but I spotted a camera I recognised in this one so I had to watch. You know, once they've been through the YouTube compression and optimization, the images out of these little old digicams is surprisingly a games console, what more could you want!!!! Cheers for the shout out too.

I been using old digital cameras for awhile, finding cheap ones is sorta a fun part. Many cameras have produced great results and sometimes people ask what camera did you take that photo with. Ideally digital cameras in the 5 mp and up are enough. if they have some optical zoom. unfortunately, the digicam market is getting a bit high prices. Got some Sony cybershots for $3.00 a piece including battery chargers and memory card.... I honestly don't think they are bad! The joy is making good shots with a camera that everyone has tossed in a bin! Thanks for sharing!

I've got a Praktica DC44. It's got the same 31mm fixed lens as your DC440, I don't know about the games though. The shutter lag on mine is bad. Trying to capture action shots with it is a lottery. It is a fun camera though. I should use it more often. I've recently got a Fuji E510 to play with so the Praktica may have to wait a while.

I hear the GX is really interesting and that it takes very soft photos - it doesn’t have that built-in intense sharpening effect, I think, like a lot of digicams had/have.

I manage to get a Ricoh like that mint condition, for 5€ still with the original film screen protector

I bought a canon g15 great size and lots of flexibility but the image quality hasn’t blown me away yet but it’s still better than my iPhone and I doesn’t require a compact flash card so that is definitely a perk 🤣🤣👍👍. Honestly it’s not a bad camera it will get the shot.
