5 years later I can say I broke the 10 minute mark. Install just took 8 minutes.

Thanks for the great video. It really helped out a tonne.

Please note this tutorial doesn’t work with the latest version of VMware.

The VMware Workstation version used in this video in version 10. Even using that version on a newer Windows 10 version can sometimes cause your computer to crash…

If you can't get it to boot, , , try the following.

F8 -v cpus=1 busratio=20

and click ENTER

I'm having issues after the installation. The bootloader i selected was PC EFI 10.5 and even typing in the boot flags "-v cpus=1 busratio=20" in the bootloader (which i could only see by scrolling down) it says that a cpu was put into shutdown state. I have yet to find a way past this (i used legacy iboot, which didnt work and infact gave a different error saying the guest shutdown the cpu) any help would be appreciated.

it says 'A fault has accurred causing a virtual CPU to enter the shutdown state. If this fault had accurred outside of a virtual machine, it whould have caused the physical machine to restart. The shutdown state can be reached by incorrecly configuring the virtual machine, a bug in the guest operating system, or a problem in VMware Workstation.' and there is nothing worong with my CPU beacose i buy it in the summer so... can i burt the iso to a cd and try it on a physical computer or if you anser me and tell me how to skip the message box NOTE: this message box appears after the screen that says press any key to start up from CD-ROM an dif you do not press a button it says ' System xonfig file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found'

while I do have a legit Snow Leopard installation DVD, VM ware doesn't see my DVD drive. So I downloaded the .iso from your link and unzipped it. after the install, and starting up the virtual machine, I'm getting the error "System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found.
Any ideas on what to do now?

When I get to the Mac logo after the purple screen (around 8:40, ) I get the common error of "A fault has occurred causing a virtual CPU to enter the shutdown state..." Any possible fixes other than telling me "lel you're cpu do not support up grade upc, " please?

The Snow Leopard ISO file is corrupted. Please update the link with an ISO that isn't corrupt.

I have gotten snow leopard to work in virtualbox, you have to set up the new machine as a mac with the snow leopard option selected. then setup your vhd and amount of ram. add your .iso and click start. If you see the error that virtaulization is not supported than go into your bios and enable virtualization. restart and then you are ready to go!

Ok, I saw that alot of people have problems with virtualbox installation ( I have installed it on VirtualBox) so I will help those who need it. *This tutorial is only for virtualbox users.* Here I will also tell you how to get the Internet working on mac. If you want to get it correctly, you must read all of this.
**Click read more if you want to install it.**

Set all of the specs of your Virtual OS. Don't forget to put in the iso in the optical drive!

1. Disable EFI (special OSes only), this is the most important step for the entire installation. If you didn't disable it, and you start your OS, you will get a kernel panic in the console, so disable.

2. If you get the screen that says 'Press any key to start up from CD-ROM, or press F8 to enter startup options.' Press any key. If you get a kernel panic, that's ok, reset the os and press F8. Then in the console type -v cpus=1 busratio=20 and press enter. You should wait a few seconds and should get the list with the languages, and choose your language.

3. Now press the button and then go to utilities, and click disk utility. Click on the BOX HARDDISK and click on erase and name your partition. Then you can exit it when it has created it's partition. Press Continue and agree to the terms of the software license agreement.

4. Click your drive, and continue, and before you click install, click customize and choose both Mac_OS_X on top of the list, click on Boot_Loader_Intel_Only and choose Chameleon_RC3_PCEFI_10.5, click on Kernel and choose the kernel that right for you. If you have a processor that is i5 or lower' choose the legacy kernel. If you have a processor that is i7 or higher, choose the Intel Atom. If you're done, exit out of the customize and click install.Wait until you got the installation done, click Restart, wait a few seconds. Also, you must eject the iso and reset the os (in other words, rightclick the CD icon, and click 'Remove disk from virtual drive'.

5. You should get a screen with the apple logo with the name of your partition below it, with a purple background. Press enter and type this code correct (get full screen to see the thing you're typing on the bottom left) :
-v -x -f cpus=1 busratios=20 and press enter. If you have done this correctly, you should get a screen with alot of sentences that flash.

You're going to have to wait until you get the next screen and get a grey screen.

6. You should get a screen where you can choose in which country you are living in. Set the input keyboard. Once that's done, press continue until you get a screen with 5 places you can type in. You are going to make a account, so make one. Then set timezone and time

I hope you enjoy the Mac!

Yes thank you!!! I need this because... of all reasons... i'm recreating a long lost YouTubePoop that seems to have used effects found only in imovie. My only alternative would be to break out the old Power Mac G4 tower MDD and get things going on there with just old leopard and old imovie. I'll try here first.
