At 11 pm Needham Fire was dispatched to a major crash at FM 1488 and College Park Drive just outside The Woodlands. The first unit arrived and was directed by witnesses to the wooded area of the State Forest. Witnesses say the 2017 Chevrolet pickup was traveling in excess of 80 mph north on College Park when the driver approached the T-intersection of FM 1488. He made it halfway through the intersection and went airborne. The truck landed on the shoulder of the roadway, hit the ditch, and again went airborne. after crossing the ditch he went into the forest cutting a large pine tree off approximately five feet off the ground. He continued another one hundred fifty feet through and over the trees and thick brush. Firefighters had to use chainsaws to cut their way into the victim who was trapped in the truck. Woodlands Fire Rescue was then dispatched to assist. Once to the victim who appeared intoxicated, he told firefighters his mother had been with him. Even though no passenger airbag had deployed which is consistent with no weight on the passenger seat firefighters searched anyhow. As crews worked close to thirty minutes to free him others looked for what he said was his mother but later changed it to the fact his children had been with him. Nobody else was found. He was transported with facial injuries to the hospital in stable condition. With is so deep in the woods a regular wrecker could not handle it. A heavy-duty wrecked was called in and he to have problems. First, as his truck went back to far off the pavement. Woodlands Rescue has to rig its winch to pull the wreck back to the pavement. For the next two-hours firefighters worked with the wrecker driver trying to maneuver the truck out of the woods using snatch blocks as they did.. The truck was finally removed just after 1:30 am. Firefighters then had to cut trees out of the truck that it had picked up during the crash and recovery. The site has been the location of multiple fatal crashes as the drivers ran off the end of the road even though signs are present. Weather conditions at the time of the crash were clear as the fog had not yet started to roll in.

It's so crazy how drunk drivers 95% of time never died from a crash like this but someone who hasn't been drinking do pass in a accident like this it gos to show you how life is sometimes your dealt a bad hand .He's lucky to be alive.

As soon as I saw this cross I knew where this was. Cody G was my neighbors lil brother, he was 18 i think and drunk...almost killed his passenger too. Remember his mom wrecked her navigator on my street in evening, she was wasted too

Thank you first responses & wrecker drivers. You never know what may happen on a call. The fact the guy survived after flying through the trees is good news. Some of you got to brush up on your tree trimming skills. Just in time for the winds from these fronts moving your way.

Fast forward to today, another unfortunate death in the exact same location. The video for the recent one zoomed in on that same cross.

How did I know before even looking at this it happened at 1488 and 242? This seems to happen often. I remember a story not too long ago where someone was missing back there for a few days or something.

OMG did anyone see the 2 tiny crosses, this seems to be a corner that the state should investigate and come up with better roadway plans to prevent furthur tragedy but they should also be prosecuting these speeders to where they get mandatory jail time for going over a certain speed and anytime they cause a death automatic life sentence

It was funny when the tow truck was stuck for a few minutes. Drunk or not I’m glad he survived. Everyone digging this guy remember he who without sun cast the first stone. Someone smart said that.
