Love the CSL version of this. You can tell this has updated software for the gearbox - it shifts much quicker than others I've seen driven. Love that sound tho :)

For me these are the best cars of all time if you take into account. On a track, almost nothing beats this car in performance and fun.

I ran a 2005 one for 5 years and although i liked it i dont think i ever loved it. The running costs are high, £200 a tyre, head gaskets go around 100k and the subby is £1k to fix. You have to ring them out to get it to go so people think your a knob when your pressing on and when they are sorted with the decent rubber, suspension and geo etc they go well, but almost too well so you are really flying to make them feel exciting. Tracking them at 1500 odd kgs it gets expensive. So i sold it and bought two cars. A mondeo for the hum drum and a westfield zetec for fun. I taxed and insured both for less than the m3

I've own e46 m3 smg, my daily drive to work, spend 112 miles everyday to work except weekend for the last 2 years and its mostly highway. Fuel consumption around 28mpg and no smg issue so far.

I have looked at M3s so many times but I just know I can't afford to maintain one. My CTR costs me enough in tyres, oil, servicing, and stuff I had to put right. On top of fuel, tax, and insurance... Cars are so expensive when you think about it!
