I almost got this model but because I can't easily find replacement/spare batteries for it, and because there's no AA battery pack, I went for the uv5x, which has both readily available spare battery packs and accepts the aftermarket AA battery pack by btech.

The only two problems I’ve found with it is that noaa channel 1 isn’t programmed with a frequency and that the tail squelch is so loud on the receiving end of any transmission. Everything else is phenomenal!
