I wake up disoriented, with all kinds of energy and no where to go with it. Then I listen to the lofty music and earthy subject of the Magnificat- ahhh- now i have a trajectory for a new day

Sang this in high school, 1978. Then again in a community choir in 1985. It is hauntingly beautiful, lively, mystical and glorious! Masterfully done!!

I’ve read many classic works of fiction and seen many great paintings. I’ve heard and performed Mozart and Beethoven and Wagner and other great composers. But in all my travels around The World of Great Art, I have a single conclusion: Bach is the greatest artist who has ever lived, and he even makes other geniuses look amateurish.

To my ears this music sounds like surges of pure joy. It's just wave after wave of spiritual pleasure.

Had I been in that audience I'd have been saying (screaming) "BRAVI" at the end of the performance. Just wonderful, and congratulations to Matthias Beckert for a great production of this compact but excellent piece. As a veteran of 50+ years of choral singing, I congratulate you and your excellent chorus and soli.

I always find Bach so compelling that I suspend disbelf.. Most liturgical music does this to me but Bach especially. His music seems to plumb the mystery of Christanity with such conviction that one is obliged to share his faith. And this choir has prompted one to share Bach's faith and theirs. That is the splendour of music. It transcends internaland external boundaries

MAGNIFICAT is pure beauty in vocal expression and musical composition. Enthralling rendition!

This isn't the slickest Magnificat out there, but is so gloriously MUSICAL. There is something genuine and thoroughly engaged about this performance. At times the chorus seems to dancing with the rhythms. Definitely among the top performances that I have ever heard. As others have remarked, the bassist is a rock star.

Rien ne vaut l'orgue qui reste l'instrument le plus complet et qui résonne avec une telle intensité dans les cathédrales majestueuses !

It just occurred to me this morning that I hadn't listened to Bach's Magnificat for a while. So I found your video; I listened and watched and was blessed. Thank you.

We're singing this tomorrow night and I can't wait. It's a great, compact little work with a huge demand on the choir. I'm so pleased this choir remembered to put the joy into the work, given that it's in minor with a celebratory text. Very hard to pull off.

Ah Those Trumpets are glorious -- The opening movement of Bach's Magnificat is stirring. I love every bit of Bach's Magnificat, but the Opening is my favorite
