Many other ways to cope with micro genitalia syndrome. A loud muffler only masks the suffering it does not treat or cure it.

A bill was almost passed in the utah house that would have required a muffler inspection before being qualified an emissions test... sadly it wasn't passed. It is on police officers to enforce; however, when they do pull someone over, that person only receives a "fix it" violation and they have 30 or so days to fix it. If they are stopped again, they are given a $40 ticket, which is hardly anything. In my opinion, we should bring back safety inspections, which stopped about 2 years ago, and empower officers to give larger fines and penalties. The noise near my house in south jordan is becoming unbearable!

I have the same problem on South Utah lake. My quiet little ranch turned into a training facility for aircraft that circle obnoxiously to scared to leave the valley. And due to the expansion of Provo airport rapid expansion.

Unbelievable, the cops knew about it and didn't do anything until the news got involved? I'm sure the citations would pay for the equipment needed.

I lived in South Salt Lake and I lived in West valley Utah and Taylorsville Utah and I have heard it in those areas late at night and early early in the morning and it gets annoying

As someone who as participated in these cruises up state street to the capital building many times. Let me say that the people that organize these meets do not support the revving and backfiring some people do. We are told when we leave for these cruises to be mindful of those around us. Not speed or rev, no burnouts or drifting. If someone is caught in the community they do their best to not invite them anymore. It’s the few that give us all a bad reputation.

It's not enough a muffler mod to make the gun shot noises lol

If people actually knew just how few police officers were on duty, they would freak out. Fewer police, more crime. Noise violations are the least of their worries.

Hand out tickets? Good luck. It will never stop. And trust me, I've had family that lived up there. This is nothing new. Saying there's been a rise in recent years is laughable.

Good luck enforcing it. People will always do it, even with a "ticket."

I'm glad you folks have brought this to the public's attention. Maybe this will light a little fire under those who need to address it.
