My team doesn't really "self organize" yet. Our developers always look to the "team leads" for assignments even when I ask them to choose from a backlog. How can we foster the self-organization mindset?

The developers pick the work they can work with for our 2 week sprint. This is done during the Sprint Planning. Welcome back guys!

What are my boundaries as a Scrum master regarding workplace relationships like developer that has issues with a PO/team member/manager or stakeholder (example - complaints about meetings with them or taking work they suggest)? What advice can I give and what should I stir away from. What are the appropriate questions to ask and who should I ask (should I discuss the matter with the people outside the Scrum team)

Thanks!

Should developers be involved in requirements gathering, or should the BAs essentially shield developers from those meetings?

They pull tasks from the top of the backlog, individually, and assign to themselfs. It should be always collective and no assignee or what? 🙃
