In this MetaMask tutorial, I'm going to show you how to connect MetaMask to Optimism Network Layer 2 for Ethereum so you can send funds to your MetaMask wallet and make transactions with much lower fees compared to the Layer 1 Ethereum Blockchain. I will then show you how to connect your MetaMask to popular DEFI apps like Uniswap to swap and exchange for other tokens there.

Okay so you say to
Confirm the details are the same when comparing the two network configs. The link via chainlink says OETH the MetaMask and all other setups say ETH

BINANCE also says only ETH deposits via optimism will work.

This doesn’t

Currently getting JSON errors and no green active network connection in MetaMask. None mine is helping

I guess from now on Ill watch the whole video FIRST before following steps
You started with money in your metamask ETH wallet .. so Sent my funds to my ETH wallet
and then one minute kllater i find out i have to send them to my OPT ETH wallet ... and pay ALL the fees AGAIN ... yeah that wasnt good ..gas fees are too high now I cant go any further today DAMMIT

These L2 solutions just add a whole new layer of complexity. I don't get it. Unless you can trasnfer directly from an exchange it appears insane. At least it doesn't have a separte coin like matic to pay gas fees. I still of the view that $1 is a crazy amount of money for a network transfer. How secure are these L2 chains? Could you lose your ETH? I look forward to the time that we can use a secure fast L1 solution.
