Democracy is about economics and politics and culture, as you brilliantly expounded here; but it's also about geopolitics. Particularly it's about geopolitics when it comes to poor countries.

Responsible, future-proof, democratic leadership = we're in this together and we can make this better; not us vs them, you vs me, "you're either with us or you're against us".

Leaders operate within systems. Followers as well as leaders need to practice responsible, consultative and transparent Democracy for it to work well. That takes dedication, effort, dialogue and willingness to change views and actions in service of the whole rather than a powerful minority. 

Blaming leaders without taking responsibility for positive, inclusive changes is unhelpful at best and harmful at worst.

Nice talk but you didn't apply it. Like he got his peace nobel Prize without doing anything for peace. Maybe looked better because he greatly expanded the bomber drones instead of more boots on the ground but with worse consequences, I remember .how he used to be pro-Palestine on the stumps...but did not mention this anywhere once he was accepted as candidate . when someone asked him to talk about it he said "not at this speaker and even more brilliant hypocrite.
