The Great Ocean Road is spectacular. About 15 or so years ago. I was at Twelve Apostles and one collapsed into the water. Lots of dust and birds flying everywhere !..

On a water topic - Melbourne is on the Yarra River ( and the Maribynong River) which enters Port Phillip Bay. Melbourne wraps around this huge bay. Then the water scenes are of Bass Strait and then the Southern Ocean. The wet and misty weather you have experienced is due to a combination of three converging negative weather systems from the Indian Ocean in the west, the Pacific Ocean in the east and the Southern Ocean in the South. It is very unusual and has caused much deep and expansive flooding in eastern Australia .On Feb 17th we have had three days of real Summer weather with a heatwave up to 39 degrees Celsius and a welcomed cool change is due in late this afternoon and early evening ...and at 4:20 pm I've just heard spots of rain on the roof of my house.

Apollo Bay is definitely my favourite view along the entire drive. Summer sunsets up there while having a drink are so good.

There were 12 apostles when the site was named, but 4 or so fell into the ocean over time...the last only in the last few years. Great video by the way. 🤗😙😀

Enjoy your travels keep posting and for me the most impressive thing is the relationship u have with each other, never take that for granted. The love and support u have for each other is clearly evident and something to cherish and watching your videos i reminisce of the travels my wife and i did in our more younger carefree days! haha . Did u know the gr8 ocean road is the worlds longest war memorial? It was built after the first world war by returned service personnel in tribute to the fallen. Good luck and safe travels.

I don’t remember what country this lady was from but she actually cried when she saw the twelve apostles! She was so overwhelmed! Although she and her partner continued on, she later came back again to see it one last time. The view she had was really spectacular with the sun making everything look golden. I saw it on YouTube.

Glad you enjoyed the drive & the sights. I think the Twelve Apostles are gorgeous, but I saw them on a sunny day, which makes all the difference. Also, we Aussies are used to beautiful beaches, so maybe we place more emphasis on the Twelve Apostles because they're something different 😊

You picked one of the best coastal drives in Australia. My wife and I did it several years ago and would do it again

The stacks are prone to collapse but over millennia new ones are created by the oceans pounding into the cliffs. Unfortunately back in 1990 the rock arch attached to a limestone stack that was known as “London Bridge” collapsed and two tourists were left stranded on top of sea stack and had to be rescued by a police helicopter. Luckily no one was traversing the arch at the time of the collapse. FYI the Great Ocean road is the largest War Memorial in the World. It was a civil engineering project created to memorialise the sacrifice of Australian volunteers during the “Great War” and employed WW1 returned servicemen to build the road.
