I served six years in the US navy and was proud to have served in a "Man's Navy."

My Dad was on the Lex at Coral Sea. Then at Leyte he was aboard baby flat top USS Gambier Bay. Being on 2 sunk carriers was enough. They sent him back to Oakland.

I would venture to say it is the OFFICIAL march of the US Navy. All recruits march to it.

Um, I hate to break this to you, but there's nothing unofficial about this song. It might not be designated as an "official march", but it is the official Service Song of the U.S. Navy, at the same level as "The Army Goes Rolling Along", "Marines' Hymn" (not J.P. Sousa's "Semper Fidelis"), "The U.S. Air Force" (a.k.a. "Wild Blue Yonder"), and "Semper Paratus".
