Unleashed – 'The Longships Are Coming' live, Rock Hard Festival 2024 | Rockpalast

Unleashed gehören zu den Pionieren der schwedischen Death Metal-Szene und sind seit 1989 nahezu in ihrem Gründungs-Lineup unterwegs. Die Band um Sänger und Bassist Johnny Hedlund beherrscht ein abwechslungsreiches Repertoire von druckvoll-aggressiv bis hymnisch-episch.
Unleashed wurden im November 1989 in Stockholm gegründet – aus der Asche der Pionier-Death-Metal-Band Nihilist. Im Laufe der Jahre gab es nur sehr wenige Besetzungswechsel. Heute besteht die Band aus Johnny Hedlund (Bass und Gesang), Fredrik Folkare (Leadgitarre), Anders Schultz (Schlagzeug) und Tomas Måsgard (Rhythmusgitarre).
Unleashed sehen sich in erster Linie als Live-Act. Musikalisch bleibt die Band ihren Wurzeln treu und entwickelt sich innerhalb ihres eigenen Musikstils weiter. In den Texten von Unleashed geht es meist um Wikinger-Traditionen und -Werte. Laut eigener Aussage streben Unleashed danach, „die obersten Wikinger des schwedischen Death Metal zu sein“. Sie wollen „die Zukunft des Viking Death Metal anführen und definieren“.

Here's the thing, I'm 49 now. I was there back in da day when Unleashed played venues in Uddevalla, Gotheburg and so forth and i STILL get the same buzz from the music. Metal will NEVER die.

I remember seeing them a couple of times live. Amazing band!! I was in my teens, now 51 yo. For me the most memorable thing was that drummer with his hair constantly over his face 😂 stoically… I always had a spot right in the front row in order to hear their stage sound (and to watch the singers massive face 😂, my friends and I always had a great time with Unleashed. Two extremely tight guitarists, a drummer where you didn’t know which side his fuckin head was and a singer who terrorized the room like a crazy butcher 🎉
