Don’t be silly. The child’s shoes, sidewalk and crosswalk will have alerted the car and truck long before. Your car will have picked another route hours in advance, before you even set your destination. #precrime

This reporter is a cheap sensationalist. He assumes that the truck won't be programed and the child won't be wearing a road tracking device as well . Why would the car have to hit someone ? Why not just stop efficiently why are we also assuming brakes will not improve by the time this happens . The idea would be cars, trucks bicycles and pedestrians would all have trackers. Roads, lights and speed limits would be variable, and coordinated the computers would know the weather and change the speed limit accordingly for each street . We would have coordinated safety . The UN has said if we keep going the way we are, traffic accidents will surpass deaths from war . I'm all for self driving cars it would allow me to travel safely well into old age.
