Walmart now has the same blade with micarta scales and a REALLY nice sheath with a tek lock.

All things considered, that knife is surprisingly tough for what it is. Thanks for sharing and Cheers!

I got it on clearance for $7! To "fix" the handle a couple of rolls of "squishy" racket tape, then dip the taped handle into the plasti-dip tool handle rubber dip (the dip, not the spray), for a coat, dry 45 minutes than dip again. After 4 or 5 coats like this, squeeze it like you would grip it to use it, and it will custom conform to your hand a bit. The shock will go WAY down, and it is a CHEAP fix. That is the knarliest wood I have ever seen! That makes Mesquite wood look easy!

Excellent knife! Especially the newer version! Can’t get a better knife for the price!

I tried processing eucalyptus once, I think i just gave up and found another piece of wood. Just got the new version of this, seems nice for the price.

This is what I call a hard knife test.
Good test actually.
This is the kind of thing I would do with my cheap Moras without feeling bad about it.
I found the Gerber Strongarm vibrated when I hit it with a baton.
I liked the look of that knife.
But I didn't like the knife when I was working with it.
I sold it again pretty quickly.
Of course it didn't break.
But something about the handle didn't fit at all when I chopped with the knife.

Not up to my standards of carry & "Pakka wood" usually means "cheap wood soaked in dye" in my experience but heck for that price one can't complain too much. It'd make a good starter knife for a kid just getting into the game.

Again, nice testing with "The stump of truth"....A little profile work and your kid gets to have some fun....Good stuff....

Its actually nice to see knives being used instead of look what i own type of videos.
Really youtube is turning into a long gear commercial

They have a nicer version of this knife right now that has g10 handles orange liners and a satin finish it would like a kydex style sheath with tech lock it's all fake of course but it looks cool

I'll have to give it to the Ozark $20 knife, it took a beating. If it only had a decent plastic sheath. It's good for what it is though. I would not have thought it would hold up to the hammer, but it did.

Kershaw uses 7cr17mov on a lot of their budget folders. I wouldn't call it crappy steel. Heat treatment and edge geometry matter way more than steel grade.

I love the knife I just wish I were made of better steel. Aus 8 d2 or 1095 or something

Dude let me tell you Walmart/Ozark Trail is going to sell a bunch of these in the future. Lol. It was a good test but something told me it wasn’t going to make it by that thumbnail! Baahhhaaaa

For a $20, you abused it beyond specs. Not bad I will get one.
