Trains stopped in the Eurotunnel between France and England on Tuesday. Hundreds of passengers were stuck under the Channel Tunnel for around five hours after the train's alarms went off and had to be investigated.

Why is the many complaints?
The emergency exits worked. The service tunnel kept them safe. They were well looked after, given free food and drinks. Nobody was injured and they got all their belongings back.

When you travel, you risk emergencies. Sorting out incidents like this takes time, obviously. Stop complaining and be grateful for the safety of the tunnel.

so the clever people in charge devised that in an emergency all travellers would walk all the way back from x miles point in the middle of the channel. why not put an emergency service/rescue train track where the pedestrians were walking instead. so what there saying is that in event of a fire the only way out is to escape on foot with plumes of smoke engulfing all areas for hundreds of metres of the tunnels. its just not been thought through properly. its a great idea and service but this highlights a very very big problem.
