Most younger Millennials and Zoomers wouldn't understand '80s and '90s car HP ratings. They forget that it was a representation of its time, technology, and standards of the day. They forget that those cars were also a lot lighter than much more modern cars -- they didn't need 700hp just to make it move, like today's cars. Let's not forget, either, that 225hp was still respectable even into the mid-2000s. The 2002-07 WRX was 227hp, an SRT4 Neon was 215-230hp (depending on year), and the supercharged Cobalt SS and ION Redline was 205hp. A VERY underrated 205hp, but 205hp nonetheless. Horsepower isn't EVERYTHING when in comes to a performance car, or a vehicle's driving dynamics. It's a decent part of the equation, but it isn't everything.

I'm so old that I remember the TV shows and news / car magazine articles when he talked about this when he had it.

It was Frank who designed the wing on the back, in fact it was meant to be a triple wing, but because of cost, it was taken down to two. Wheeler Dealers with Ant Ansted actually modified a cosie to look as it should, taken from Franks sketches he did.

"it's name was Gary, and every morning when you turned the key and started it, it would say DO YOU WANT SOME!!!" (Quote J. Clarkson)

You forgot to mention that Cosworth also developed the truly ferocious new V16 found in the upcoming Bugatti Tourbillon !

I also didn't realize that Clarkson only had the car for a year -- it seemed like longer than that, and I thought he mentioned that he had it until around 1997 in an old OLD Top Gear video. It popped up several times in his old videos back then, and it was even mentioned in Eric Bana's "Love the Beast." The car evidently left a long-lasting impression on Jezza.

its hard to describe to people how diverse car culture is, and the 3 boys are such a integral point of that culture

The greatest ever Cosworth made! It's wideboy image with the air scoops and that massive wing really capture the period of the early 1990s and all the ram raiding that went on then! It deserves its legendary status.

I remember reading about his Cossie on the back page of Performance Car magazine 🤓
It suited Jeremy SO well at the time 😂

They are the perfect combination of TV personalities that ever existed. Rather than just separating into their own boring elderly life stuff, they should have created an adventure business based on Grand Touring. They can combine things from Diddly Squat farm, Hawkstone brewery, May's pub, Hammond's car modifications (with crazy/deadly adventures) to it. People will love to do their own documentaries, Instagram posts, YouTube videos including a socialising experience with the world famous trio at the end of their own grand tour.

Bloke here in Cornwall has a pure white rs cossy blue engine block and bits n bobs he only takes it out in the summer it's gotta be one of the cleanest cossy I've layed eyes on 👌 and his son has the purple rs focus for a daily 🤣 just as clean and factory looking as the cossy. It's a treat to see and hear the cossy when he takes it out.

Great Video. I was at the Iconic auction when this car sold. The new owner has got a true piece of motoring history. Luckily for me, although i have never owned one of these amazing cars I co-drove one to Le Mans and back in the early 2000's so have fond memories of driving one all those years ago.

I remember when the Cossie came out, as a kid. Loved it and always wanted one! I remember thinking "wow! 220bhp! That's mental on the roads!!" and now look where we are... The class tho, just iconic. Best I got was the Tamiya RC Cosworth, which I loved instead

I also have a ‘daily driver’ but refer to it usually as ‘my car’

I am Jeaslous of your ST200! I used to own an SVT Contour (the US version of the ST) and I genuinely miss it.
