Hochul announces deal to end New York prison guard strike

Corrections officers and sergeants have been illegally striking for nearly two weeks across the state. CBS News New York's Christina Fan has the update.

No the deal has not been reached and the strike continues. Nothing in the proposal is permanent and as in the past they will shelve anything they offer as soon as they get the staff back.

Why even say two prisoners died during the strike if their deaths had nothing to do with it? Prisoners die all the time, usually from suicide and drug overdose, suddenly that's news during a strike? Support the officers, not convicted criminals.

A deal between a union that donated money to Hochul, a mediator who donated money to Hochul and Hochul herself. That's not a deal with no one representing the officers. They met none of the officers' demands or concerns. HALT Act is not ending, so the strike will continue. Nice job, Hochul, I'm sure you'll do something classy and do a press conference while talking to them like they are children again. If these are how negotiations are going to go, I don't see an end for a very long time. I mean, hit on one demand at least the ending of the HALT Act, and they'd go back. It's not that hard.
