Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree - How to Fix ‘Failed to Load Save Data’ (PC)

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is a DLC expansion for Elden Ring releasing on June 21st, 2024 on PC and consoles. In it, players will be able to seek out the demigod Miquella in a new shadowed world full of new biomes, dungeons, dangers, and bosses.
Known as the Realm of Shadow, this new land sits apart from the Lands Between, and it includes a large variety of biomes, several distinct regions, as well as many new dungeons and wandering Field Bosses.

Anybody who is having problems with migrating older save files, please do the following:

(only the .exe not any other files).
Step 2 - Check the folders in your PC for the old save
(Most probably located at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing\[foldername])
Step 3 - Open the game and create a new save file. Exit game.
Step 4 - Open the .exe file and select your old save file as source and new save file as the destination.
Step 5 - Select your Old character name in "Copy from" option and New character name in "Copy to" option.
Step 6 - Press Copy. There will be a warning telling you to delete the backup file created at the bottom of the screen.
Step 7 - (IMPORTANT) - Goto the folder for your New save file and you will see a backup file created. DELETE IT!

And voila! you just copied your older save into the newer game.
Keep Strong Tarnished, we have a long way to go.

I created a new character, reached the grace, and then closed the game normally. I checked my roaming Elden Ring folder and I only have one folder with the SL2 file.

How did you create a second game file?

It says the data are damaged .... I can see my old character but it won't let me load the data

For me it worked to just go into steam settings on the game and verify integrity of game files or whatever it is in english.
