The fact he wasn’t inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his lifetime is a crime!!

When we told the DJ that he was going to play this song at my wife and I's wedding reception, he looked at us in horror. Before he played it, we had all the guys and all the girls line up across from each other. It was the hit we expected it to be. Everyone got into it. Old, young, people who didn't know the words and people who did. The guys sang the guys part, the girls sang the girls part. It was an amazing time. We are still happily married 23 years later and NOT praying for the end of time to hurry up and arrive.

They were both singing it to each other at the end. It was priceless. They both were in the moment and are paying for each other for the rest of the life. This song was perfection!!!

Truthfully, Meatloaf really WAS an actor!! He was in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" among several other movies. He was one of the most expressive singers and sadly, we lost him far too soon!! "Bat Out of Hell" remains one of my favorite albums of all time. Rest in Peace, Meatloaf; you are deeply missed!!

They mention vows- he did marry her. That’s why he says it was long ago and things were better then. It’s years later snd the marriage went downhill because they married so young and immaturely. The funny thing is, this was the song they played as a joke, for me and my husbands first wedding dance. Because our first outing together was a lake trip, but with friends. So we went with it and laughed. We are now celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary ( and 5 kids) next week. We play it every year snd dance together in the family room- we consider it our lucky song to remind us of what real love is.

They both can’t wait ‘till the end of time, after years of marriage “I’ll never break my promise of forget my vow”. It shows the commitment in the heat of passion isn’t always best.

Both of them said they couldn't spend another minute, but that they would keep their promise.

It’s not right after the night together. The kids got married. Later (That night was long ago and far away so much better than it is today) and he says he won’t break the vow, but it’s changed, he will keep his promise til the end of time — so they’re praying for the end of Time. A metaphor for the regret they feel, despite the nostalgia for the memories of the passion.

For that generation, many could see in their families couples that have stayed despite fighting, bickering, etc., even by the late 70s divorce had a stigma associated with it and the Courts were reluctant to grant it without trying alternative attempts to keep families together. I remember numerous couples relating to this as they lost the live for their spouse but stayed together for the kids, faith, or whatever. Teens related it to the pressures and risks of rushing into intimacy in relationships, etc., but you hit on it, the dramatic entertainment of the song was simply fun. Also it was usually years before we saw this video, it was before the days of music videos and MTV. The song itself was an incredible dramatic listen and Jim Steinman’s music had your feet jumping … it was an experience in addition to being a brilliant song idea.

This is one of the best songs ever written and greatest duets ever performed.

Nothing gives me more joy than watching people experience this song for the first time.
Imagine being in high school, circa 1986, partying at the house of whosever parent's weren't home, and all the guys singing Meat Loaf's part, and all the girls singing Ellen's part..ahhh so. much. fun.

You guys will love the entire Bat Out of Hell album - especially Amber. Amber, if you love musical theater, watch the rest of Meat Loaf's videos. All the songs are about angsty love.
Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Bat Out of Hell, You Took The Words Right Out of my Mouth (my fave), For Crying Out Loud (another fave), and I Would do Anything For Love.

All great choices. All fun choices. Enjoy!

This is your best reaction video ever. Amber’s reaction was priceless when she realized he said he would love her ‘til the end of time, and then he’s praying for the end of time.

Meatloaf was the epitome of "rock opera." Everything he did was theatrical, especially his concerts, you'd think you were at a Broadway show. He was incredible, arguably one of the most underrated artists in the industry.

Ellen Foley does not get NEARLY the credit she deserves for making this song the epic mini-rock opera that it has been for over 40 years.

You kept calling it a one-act play, but it's a 3-acter. The song has three parts, and it tells the full story of 3 acts. The way this song is structures is still genius. A timeless classic.

They were BOTH singing "Im praying for the end of time" because neither of them wanted to spend another minute with the other. Remember at the beginning of the song how he sings "I remember every little thing, as if it happened only yesterday" so the implication is they are years into an unhappy marriage and they both can no longer stand each other. Such an amazing theatrical performance. Im sad I never got to see Meatloaf live. If you want to see him act, you should watch the movie Fight Club. Stellar supporting performance by him, and a great movie!

Amber has the right idea. This more than a song, though a very good song, it’s performance art and Meatloaf is an incredible performance artist.

We lost a legend last night. Thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and fans. R.I.P. Meatloaf

Amber had me laughing hysterically throughout the entire performance. I am 53 and a couple years ago I was sitting in Starbucks sipping on my latte, killing time before heading over to my doctors appointment. I was a regular there as the store was located 2 minutes from the hospital district that was my home away from home. Anways, I am sipping my latte, laughing to myself as this song is blasting in my headphones. One of the girls, baristas, comes walking by to go on her break and stops in front of me and motioned me to pause the music. I did and I told her I was laughing about the song. She was about 21-22 years old and wanted to listen, so I gave her my headphones and started the song over. That poor girl, I was fighting laughing at her facial expressions. I think she was a few minutes from an aneurysm after the last 5 minutes of the song. She stood there stunned and I had noticed the song had switched and "Two Out Of Three" had started playing. She took the headphones off and looked me dead in the eye and asked me "What play/show that Paradise was from?" She didn't believe me tgat this was just a song off from one of his albums. Then she was confused how "Two Out of Three" could be so beautiful after the frantic song prior to it...

Great review you two, I needed a good laugh tonight...

Amber, listen to Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad...
