Показать описание
The Blue Guitars (Deventer, Holland) form in ‘88 by brothers Dick and Bert Dykman as a duo, later a trio and finally in ‘90 as a quartet. They release their first single on a small dutch vinyl label called KELT. The band gets signed by Play It Again Sam Records and team up with former Pere Ubu and Red Krayola genius Mayo Thompson to record their selfcalled debut (91). They tour extensively, record their Second album “Shellfish”(92), play a couple of festivals (Roskilde, Denmark) and keep on touring. Then drummer Ben Heersping leaves the band (‘93). Dick Bert and Erik back up U.S. singer-songwriter Joe Henry on his first European tour and begin the quest for a new drummer. Marti Frank who played with Austin,Texas’ own Pat Mears joins the band. Together with The Black Eyed Angels Blue Guitars record country and western sidestep “Music From Heaven”(93) just for fun live in two days. They record “Waterwings”(94) again with producer MayoThompson. Blue Guitars play South By South West in Austin,Texas: ” With his leathery, Cat Stevens-like voice, singer Dick Dykman leads what is primarily a folk band into a hostile fuzzy universe. He even acquits himself honorably. The band takes cues from R.E.M. except they substitute mood for melody”.
In 1995 Blue Guitars split up.
