This is my favorite part of being a human. Digging up smaller creatures, not to hunt them, but to call them a sand piggy and put them right back.

Sometimes, if you're on the right beach at the right time, you can see them swim along as a wave recedes and bury themselves when a new one comes in. It's really cute!

I was digging around the water line when I was a kid and found one of these guys by accident. I screamed and dropped it. Never did that again, I thought it was a mini crab.

I always call the sand crabs growing up and honestly grabbing a giant bucket and getting a bunch of these was my favorite thing to do at the beach

One time when I was 7 or so I digged and found one. It was still covered in sand so I thought it was a baby sea turtle. Then I rinsed it and freaked tf out 💀

I find it hilarious that my mother-in-law said that these sand fleas are what her cat had. She gave my animals hell and wouldn't treat her cat. Nope, she's from Texas. Oh no she wasn't mistaken, she was making excuses.
