Taking a look today at a makila walking stick! This was made by the Basque people! The tradition of the Makila dates back farther than most people even realize! The Makila is also far more dangerouse that it looks! This antique weapon has a great story and comes from a culture that is just as interesting and complex.

Basques survived invasions from Romans, Visigoths, Muslims, Spanish and French keeping their identity, culture and genetics almost untouched until recent inner migrations. It is not surprising that MyHeritage game me a result of 100% Iberian, specifically from the Basque region. It seems my ancestors lived their lives isolated in their mountains.

Lol. I’m picturing someone using the walking stick as self defense with both of those sharp ends out and for some reason I’m cracking up. I’m not worried about subscribing lol! That cracked me up too! So interesting and unique and funny as always!

Neither funny nor scary, just camp and banality, with a good piece of cringey.
