In this lesson, you will learn about the concept of volume in math. We will discuss what volume is, how to calculate volume, and the units of volume. The units of volume are cubic units such as cubic cm, cubic meters, cubic km, cubic feet, etc. In order to understand volume, we must visualize the shape containing a number of cubes inside. The number of cubes that we can fit in the shape is called the volume in cubic centimeters, for example. A cubic centimeter is a cube where all sides are 1 cm long. In order to calculate the volume, we multiply the length by the width by the height. In this way we find how many cubes will fit inside of the shape, which is its volume.

Thanks so much. I’m 53 years old and got stuck helping my neighbor’s kid and I couldn’t remember. You’re a lifesaver. 👍🌻🌻🌻

He has a natural talent and passion for teaching; he explains so well and so articulately that if you pay attention it is very difficult not to delight in undressing as grow in knowledge.

I’ve been studying with this teacher because my teachers said I needed to have 100% on all tests, which is impossible but I’m still trying my best. this guy has helped me understand more topics of math and science then my teachers combined. Thank you-

i gotta say that this content is the future of education. Why would someone send their kids to school for a subpar education.

This was never covered in school but it's literally on every exam I've taken. Great video. Math was my worse subject and I knew it was because it wasn't being explained properly. Thank you.

@Math and Science I really appreciate you teaching on YouTube. I’m from Norway but I understand you much better than my Norwegian teacher. You describe everything so easy and makes it much more simplified. Also your (newer) videos are very high quality, which is so relaxing on the eyes. It also makes it much more interesting as I feel its more realistic to watch. I really hope you will update older videos to better video quality. I watch your channel daily and for hours 😄

I'm actually a physics student and came here by mistake (meant to look for density) 😂 But I watched this video anyway! It made me think: why do we use the words "square" and "cube" anyway? I know something "squared" refers to area, the two-dimension measurement of an object. And I know something "cubed" refers to volume, the three-dimension measurement of an object.

I guess we say "square" and "cube" because they are easier to visualize than saying "circle" and "sphere", or "triangle" and "pyramid". Though it sure would be fun to say, the pyramid root of 9 is x, or x sphered is 9!

(in my example, x = 3!)
