5 ERCOT board members resign as leader says Texas was minutes from total blackout

After disastrous days of power outages across Texas, five members of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ board of directors are stepping down.

They said winterizing one part of the grid supply would cost 4 billion dollars. 4 billion divided by 29 million people in Texas, and that comes to 138 dollars per person in Texas. Is that worth it?

You dont have to have mandatory standards to know how to run a company safely and practically. Companies spend money on their own engineering controls all the time because it makes sense. This is the Texas energy industry, the ones that are supposed to be so anti-government, now complaining they arent regulated enough? And plus the state was consuming below normal capacity with so many businesses already closed or at reduced capacity and people working from home due to covid19, and additional businesses closed due to weather and weekend. Imagine if we tried to open back up!

So you can't cover the bill to winterize all of this from your quarterly revenue and other profits for our state but we can have multiple toll roads throughout the state and collect money on those and they are paid off? Why not take that money and use it for that??? It's still to protect us the people??

It seems like a lot of cop else excuses and passing the buck in Blaine it collectively it is everyone’s fault altogether even if they weren’t the main ones to make this start happening every single person that is in charge on the smallest part of the job all the way up to hold accountability and especially those that have more control and knowledge of what there is to be done in case of any emergency no excuse there’s absolutely no excuse!! truly passing the blame and everything else is not gonna make it right or change the fact...
