I appreciate that Jackson isn’t even trying to guess causes or give any answer other than “Go to the vet NOW”. No fluff, no suggesting another video, just “your cat is in danger and needs help asap”.
Cats are so good at hiding illnesses. I think people forget that if a cat is showing symptoms like this, most of the time it means it’s so serious that they’re too ill to hide it.

One thing my vet suggested with a cat that wouldn't eat is to offer baby food (meat only and NO salt). For an ill feline with little to no appetite it can offer some protein, sometimes smells better than kibble, and baby food is packed with hydration, which helps as well.

Make no mistake, this is a band aid to tide them over with minimal nutrition until they can be seen by a vet. It is not a solution.

A cat I had had stopped eating, took them to emergency vet and eventually they found a piece of string that had obstructed her GI tract. Very nearly killed her. She needed surgery to remove. Take your cat to the emergency vet if your cat is not eating for several day

However, another cat we had we had a trip and had to leave her at pet overnight boarding house. She had a hunger strike for 2 days due to the emotional distress.

I knew it was bad news when my cat turned down lick-e-lix and Costco chicken. She would eat minimal amounts but had gone from being ravenous all the time to barely eating at all. She was 16 and the vet suspected lymphoma / aggressive stomach tumours. I had her put to sleep last Wednesday and can't stop crying. I miss her so much.

I am a licensed veterinary technician i’ve been doing this for about a decade, and my whole career I am known as the “dog tech” or dog whisperer and I never grew up with nor lived with cats- I understood them behaviorally in a vet setting but not much about a home setting. Our hospital has rescue cats up for adoption in our lobby. one night I was going home and Pumkin looked so sad, I took her for a sleepover. … and another and another and I watched soooo many of your videos and Pumkin was absolutely thriving in my apartment and we really love each other so I adopted her. she has many toys but her favorite is the jackson galaxy retractable feather wand. She had some rough events in life and used to live outside for periods of time before getting rescued. One day I had friends over and the door was left open and she got out of my apartment around midnight. she didn’t go far but I put her ginormous litter box out, offered all sorts of food, i even tried casually capturing her which she didn’t appreciate I think because it seemed like I was stalking her. so I finally just sat down in the middle of the parking lot with her absolute favorite toy the jackson galaxy retractable feather thing and she popped right out of the shadows ! and we played in the parking lot for a few minutes then I gently casually scruffed her and brought her home ❤ I don’t know what might have happened if not for your toy❤

Amen to that Jackson. Also insure your pets; yes it's a monthly cost but works out cheaper in the long run 😻

Absolutely😿. Our rescue kitty & her 3 catmates elderly human died. The remaining fam is elderly as well. All 4 were taken to a rescue. She was adopted by a college student as an "emotional support cat." (Don't get me started😾.) Kitty didn't like college, stopped eating, got this & a trifecta of other things - she was near death. The college student took her back to rescue. Kitty was fostered by a LOVING, medically trained foster that specializes in "non-eaters." It took a year to rehabilitate this kitty. We are now blessed to be her pawrents since March 1st. What a transformation❣️

Unlike dogs, cats won't eat eventually- when they get hungry - and dogs shouldn't either. Not eating means IMMEDIATE visit to the vet.

With the onset of a short heatwave in the UK recently, my cat is eating less, but still picking if offered treats. So i dont worry too much if eating reduceď. But not eating at all, not even treats, would be an immediate vet visit, no question

Hepatic lipidosis is a miserable death for animals too. I've lost a rescue hedgehog and a rescue chinchilla to it due to other medical issues that caused them to stop eating.

Force feeding at home isn't a good option, either due to the risk of aspiration. My hedgehog ended up needing a gastro tube, and we still lost him to hepatic lipidosis despite the treatment, so always keep an eye on the amount your pets are eating

Last time my cat stopped eating normally, I was granted a $500 vet bill & the diagnosis that he’s just a jerk and wanted a different flavor food. Now chewy deliverers variety flavors.

My cat Meadow would often stop eating during the final months of her life, due to her illness. She had a brain abscess resulting from a vestibular infection due to being immunocompromised, so whenever the infection got worse, she would stop eating due to nausea. I was frequently in and out of the animal hospital with her. The best solution the veterinarians and I came up with was anti-nausea medication, an appetite stimulant, and manual syringe feeding to make sure she had enough sustenance. Everyone tells me I did everything humanly possible for Meadow, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. I miss her every day.

When my cat and i moved house she ate in the morning of the move day but didnt eat the rest of the day. She wasnt a fan of moving. She did eat and accept a treat the next day. Now she runs the house 😂

My fur baby is 19, yrs old. Whenever I have to take her to a vet or have a handiman in the house, she responds by not eating. We've been managing her kidney failure and arthritis and there isn't a Mobil vet around. Our trick is to go get the most enticing flavor of food or treat, and that usually works . She'll eat very small amounts for about another week, then she goes back to her normal consumption. FYI: When we give her the most yummiest treat, we put it with her kidney diet food. She isn't supposed to have much treats bc of her kidney restrictions.

My cat didn't eat for a couple days. Ended up at ER for $5000 surgery for "intussusception". Major necrosis of intestines & infection.. Hours from death. Don't wait until it's too late!
He's fully recovered now😁

If my cats refuse more than two meals, I book an appointment at the vet (I can cancel if we find/fix the issue and they eat). If they miss an entire day, we go to the emergency vet!
That’s exactly what I did with my 9-year-old last year, she wasn’t finishing her meals and we brought her in as soon as she skipped a full day. She was at the vet for 6 days, barely eating, when they found a tumour was blocking her small intestine and she wasn’t digesting her food. Her liver killed her before we could even start treating the cancer 💔
