I like how Imagine Breaker isn't a conventional "nullification" power in a series of cool powers. It revolves around cosmology being a point of reference for the universe, interacts with lore acting as a balance between science and magic and contrasts with the two power systems as they function as the power of their own illusions.

Therefore, Imagine Breaker = break of imagination lmao." I'm going to destroy your shitty illusion" is Touma's catchphrase

And when Touma's arm is cut off, we get to make an Imagine Dragons joke...

I also like the way Imagine Breaker operates in battles. He makes Touma a well-balanced character where his fights are interesting to watch. Imagine Breaker just demotes the mage/esper to Touma's level, where they are forced to fight by Touma's rules, punches lmao. Basically the definition of: only those who can't rely on their fists use little power. But the opponent can still beat Touma if they are stronger and more resilient than him, or if they use a weapon. That's why Touma still needs to use his brain, physique and experience. It's always cool to know what types of tricks Touma will use today to beat certain types of characters. Imagine Breker also has weaknesses that it's up to Touma himself to think about how to get around it and practically makes Touma's situations more complicated for him. For example, Touma is still a civilian, in a terrorist attack on a shopping mall, Kuroko can teleport all the civilians to safety except Touma. Healing or physical enhancement magic also does not work on him. And as a way of showing bad luck because Imagine Breaker denies luck, sometimes Touma's fights have an obstacle like an accident in life.

One slight misconception is that IB is not what keeps touma’s powers sealed, or at least not entirely because there have been times when his hand is cut off and nothing happens, like what happened in NT22, GT6, and GT9 where he had to get his mind altered to make him think he still has his right hand and the others is when he died. So it’s also due to Touma’s mentality of wanting to be a “normal highschool boy” and the fact that he could “die” in that state like he almost did in GT9.

He almost even summoned them in the NT13 when high priest tried to destroy earth on a comet.

Imagine Breaker is basically not entirely a seal considering he can really use the powers beyond the right hand at free will, like what he almost did in NT13 and only refuse to do so.

We don't even know it's actual origin right now.

Ollerus theorized it as "the reference point", but it could be different later on.

Mina Mathers also revealed that it was passed down, and could take half a Century for the ability to find a new host after it's previous one is destroyed.

We also don't know if it ever latch on to living beings before Touma, with the only known previous host is a hand of Saint that is used as an Arrow, and we don't know if Imagine Breaker was on the Saint's hand before or after his death.

Imagine Breaker also seem to be bias towards Touma since it always comes back to him everytime his arm/hand is destroyed, when if what Mina said about it passing down is true, it should have gone to find another host when Touma lost his right arm.

But not only did always return to him, it even follows his soul to Hell.

Note: the description used by Othinus comparing IB to a pallet knife is severely oversimplified. As despite what she says, she herself actually is stated to have already peeled back all the phases once before even without IB. Her world had just already been changed too much by her actions to be recognizable.

IB is a reset button that would allow her to load up a prior version of her world. Effectively restoring a corrupted save file which she couldn't do on her own. She just didn't use such an analogy cause she's a magician and not a gamer XD.

Phases are BS because despite 'not being universes', thanks to the mythological context. They hold the effective mass and complexity of infinite universes each especially taking hindu into account. IB acts as a baseline or blueprint of the pure world, lke LN historian said, so that means that if it doesn't exist in the pure world of toaru, it will be rejected.

This *especially* means anything from *other* universes.
