Wasn’t pretty, but a win’s a win!! In the past, this is the type of away match in CONCACAF that the Canadian team would either draw or lose. Heck, we couldn’t even beat Bermuda away once upon a time, so I’ll definitely take this. Hoilett’s goal was a massive relief. Good stuff, lads, now finish it off on Tuesday at BMO!!! Canada's finishing has to improve or the team will always fizzle out. They create quality opportunities regularly but if they can't convert consistently, better teams will always just eek out the wins.

Naturally, I would have liked to have seen a more dominant score line for Canada. But surviving a tight game is a skill on it's own. Happy for Canada.

Our set pieces still need some improvement. Waterman a bit shaky at the back. David looked good as did Bombito. The substitutions seem to add instant life to the team. Good to see Buchanan back and healthy.

I hope Suriname’s goaltender was the man of the match. Granted, many of the shots weren’t of the greatest difficulty, but he certainly made enough of them! Canada’s finishing once again an issue. Still, a win is a win!

The set piece situation is a very big problem. This needs to be addressed urgently. Simply cannot go into '26 with set plays being that poor. Suriname had 1 corner and they got a header off and hit the cross bar. We can't even connect with a Canadian shirt. Inexcusable. Hoilett should stay in the squad for this reason alone.
