Viva La Evidence -- a parody of Coldplay's Viva La Vida - a song all about evidence based healthcare -- a little bit about the history of evidence and then the key principles. Hope you like it.

LYRICS:
I used to view the world
As a place where I gave the word
It had the feeling of eminence
But then along came evidence

I used to give advice
See disarray in my patient's eyes
I listened to the companies sing
"Now the old drug is dead! We got a new thing!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my practice stands
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear the evidence bells a ringing
Systematic reviews are singing
Clinical evidence is the maxim
NNTs are now my passion

For some reason I can't explain
Clinical studies are in my brain
Always an honest word
Now it's how I view the world

The beauty of forest plots
Who knew they were more than dots
Confidence intervals show the light
I can figure out wrong from right

Relative numbers they can wait
I want absolute numbers on my plate
Values and preference
Really make all the difference

I hear the evidence bells a ringing
Systematic reviews are singing
Clinical evidence is the maxim
NNTs are now my passion

For some reason I can't explain
Clinical studies are in my brain
Always an honest word
Now it's how I view the world

I hear the evidence bells a ringing
Systematic reviews are singing
Clinical evidence is the maxim
NNTs are now my passion

For some reason I can't explain
Clinical studies are in my brain
Always an honest word
Now it's how I view the world

I used this video during my opening remarks at the scientific session of the American Society of Hand Therapists annual meeting in Chicago 2013 and it received a standing ovation! Thank you so much for making EBP fun and memorable. I hope you will do more!

Shown last year in PHM112 at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, class of 1T7.

Thanks for helping all of us better understand clinical trials so we can help our patients that much more effectively.

Wonderful ... look forward to follow-up release showing how patient's and patients' values and preferences are to be integrated throughout EBM and not just tacked on at end.

Wow…this is so great. I was given the link by one of my professors in a module for my Integrative and functional nutrition PhD. I was a musician for a long time before pursuing an education late in life, so I appreciate it in a special way.

I have been sharing this video ever since I saw it at a National Dental Practiced Based Research Network meeting in October. Whenever I get a chance to lecture EBD to my fellow dentist this is now my closer slide. That way everyone leaving the meeting will be playing that song in their head--it won't go away-damn you Canadians. Seriously thanks for all you are doing.

Great video. I just used it for an intro to EBM class for physician assistant students. They loved it and it really increased the energy in the room. Thanks.

This is fun and compelling James! As a Canadian physician who is also a Dartmouth grad and a major Coldplay fan this couldn't get much better. I have spread the link to many of my EBM advocate colleagues. Thanks for giving those of us in the work some lighthearted encouragement.

I am an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the University of Kentucky and the voice of the PEM ED Podcast. This is the best thing I've ever seen on youtube!! I am going to make it mandatory listening for all our residents! If you don't mind I'm planning on using sound bites on upcoming podcasts.
