I'm pretty sure in Total Recall, Arnold's autobiography he said that he met his dad shortly before he passed but knew he was off. Then, shortly after his dad went back to Austria he passed away and Arnold didn't go. But in the book, if i recall correctly, there wasn't much malice. It was just bad timing because he had a contest and he was trying to get into acting. I could be wrong though.
