The telecom industry has done it for years: putting the actual radio RF unit at the antenna tower, while the control module is located remotely. And this setup has a ton of benefits—which is why we’re excited to see Icom put it to good use in the IC-905 VHF/UHF/SHF All Mode Base/Portable Transceiver. DX Engineering technical support specialist Michael Murphy KI8R explains all the advantages the IC-905 brings to the amateur operator in this in-depth radio review—and you’ll hear why it might be a great addition to your ham shack.

I can certainly see one of these in the emergency trailor and at each of the eoc's. The assessment role is one that many ARES/RACES/CETT supported teams have when working with Emergency management operations. Would love to see how well that would work and what it would take to make it all play. Thanks for the good summary.
