There is an easier and more simple method for taking Vernier Caliper reading. First we find the main scale division. Main scale division is the standing position of zero line of vernier scale. Here 36 is main scale division. Vernier Scale Division is the line in the vernier scale which is perfectly coincide with the main scale. That means vernier scale division and main scale lines are seen like a single line, when they are coinciding.So here this is our vernier scale division. That is positioning between 6th and 7th line. 6 is completed, so we write .6 after 36. Then 36.6, if 6th line is coinciding, the reading is 36.60. There is 4 lines between 6 and 7. Multiply the position of lines into 2. That means, if the first line is coinciding, reading is 36.62, the second line 36.64. Third 36.66, Forth 36.68. Here second line is coinciding with mainscale then the reading is 36.64 mm. This is the simple method, we get the same reading easly. Let's consider another example if the main scale is 25 and the line coinciding is third line after zero. Then the reading is 25.06mm. Thank you.
