Adding a New Length of Yarn to a Sewn Bind Off (Grafted, Tubular, Italian) // Technique Tuesday

Показать описание
If you've ever underestimated the amount of yarn tail needed to complete an Italian, Tubular, or any other sort of sewn bind off, or if your bind off edge is too long to complete it with a single length of yarn, you will need to add a new length of yarn at some point during the bind off.

In this video, I'll demonstrate how to add a new length of yarn as you are binding off, but also how to handle weaving in those yarn tails dangling from the middle of the edge.

Needles used in video demonstration: some brand of bamboo needles
Yarn used in video demonstration: probably Cascade 220

If you have questions about this video, or suggestions for future videos, please let me know down in the comments or on social media.

What a life saver, I have just tinked a ribbing because I thought I knew what I was doing and didn't need to measure for casting on, because I thought I was better than everyone else. Stupid me.

Thank You! The “crossing over” bit is key, invisible as well! Saving this in my toolbox!

This is a lifesaver! I’ve been holding off on a few double knitting projects because they’d require a really long Kitchener bind off. I’d heard that weaving in the ends partway was possible but couldn’t really picture it and until now I hadn’t found a good video that illustrated how it worked. Thank you so much!

This is great! I never knew any of it. I have to say...I most appreciate your weaving in method. I tried the 'smiles and umbrellas', but its confusing, sometimes my weaving shows up on the other side, and I think it shows up in the back any way. So I have been doing my weaving for years the same way you do. But I always felt like I wasn't doing it right and worried it would come out. So I feel much better now that I've seen a master knitter do it! Thanks.

How about showing someone with actual skin issues like age spots and dark circles with fair skin.
