How do you compensate for the deflection? Can you lower at the same time as going out relative to the pour rate ?

I'm a self erect crane operator, I felt that "is he saying down or doing the robot" so hard. I swear some guys just make stuff up as they go.

That was great for the nerves. So calming. I really liked the alarm.

The real deflection was the last 15s 😅

I swear the Tire Doctor has a twin crane operator brother.

Tower tilts down and jib bows towards ground moving the heavy load away from tower base. When the load is set free, the tower stands back up and jib straightens out bringing the hook into the tower.

Was a crane operator by myself.
When your weight starts swinging, you go with the swing and let it go with it. So the swing stops. If you go AGAINST it, you are gonna make it worse and add more momentum to it.

The moment when you release the weight attached to your ropes, the stored energy will going back into an upwards momentum, thats why the bucket was moving when it got lighter.

All the truck cranes I’ve been in, beeping is about 90% and solid tone is 100%.

That clicking during swing would drive me fucking bonkers.

I worked as a derrickhand on a 144ft to the crown double drilling rig. I would stand at 90 ft at the pipe rack and when we pulled a string up (160, 000 pounds or more). The rig would sink in a couple feet. When the string weight was slipped or released the derrick would deflect a couple feet back up quickly. Like the rig was breathing.

As a small crane operator i can really appreciate this explanation.

im an engineer, and i cant understand the context as im drunk rn but i can tell you guys that this guy is operating very fast like he's in a hurry. we do this kind of operation too but in a "slowly but surely" way that you almost never see the load sway sideways.

That alarm isn’t overload, it’s overload approach. 80-90% depending on the crane. A solid warning is 100-110% or more. If you pass 105% the crane must be taken out of service and inspected for damage and reported as a crane accident.

With 45 years in Towers I can say that's pretty rough work and it is a big deal when you have to clean it up. Stop being full of yourself and take better care of your guys on the ground. You are correct it was way to much. You can compensate for deflection.
When you come in and overshoot and believe it's ok, you seriously need to be considering another line of work.

I worked as a crane operator for 17 years in Asia, US, and Europe, building some of the largest sky scrapers, and I can fully co firm that your explanation of the deflection is on point.
The alarm at 100% capacity can be corrected by paying close attention to the load you lift. Mainly used to happen to me when I had to drop slurry that was bucketed by hand into the load.
Well done, man and stay safe out there.

I was driving a 300t crane for 20years in a steel mill and learned really fast that you don't overshoot if you don't want production to stop or kill someone. To be fair, there never was that much room for correction, it always had to be on point.

Your the professional. You should anticipate that coming and be able to compensate
