use a bike pump where you can pedal it (or car pump? no idea) then connect it to a bottle, to your instrument

No need to blow UNLESS you want to use your own breath to put some musicality into the tone, dynamics, vibrato, attack, and voice of this wind instrument. That said, it's a brilliant little video.

You should use bellows instead of a balloon because then you can keep pumping air into it without using your lungs and you won't run out of air like with the balloon.

Just like how some versions of the bagpipes such as the uilleann pipes and the Scottish smallpipes use bellows.
