This is my first Uwe Rosenberg worker placement game. I love it. I play it a lot and would really like an expansion. I also can't figure out how to get as many bats as it says you can get which drives me crazy. I play it mostly solo and think the solo is really good!

Yes it's juvenile...but as I was listening to this in the back ground and I was surprised to hear "AP-ness" at 32:36 which was misinterpreted by my lack of attention to the context. Otherwise, this is another great analysis of a great game by a really great group of friends - thanks!!!

Atiwa has to great virtues for me: it's relatively simple and easy to teach, and it has a nice, fast solo mode*. However, it does not have the deep repeatability of Uwe's best games, and that's going to limit its appeal I think. I liked it a lot, but it's not AFFO which I have played and will play for years. I did like it more than New York Zoo or similar lighter Uwe games though.


*Though the rulebook saying 120 points is needed for solo victory is either a misprint or a troll. 100 is a more reasonable target.

I haven’t yet tried it multiplayer, but my 12 solo plays have yielded very similar scores, and are nowhere close to the 120 that the rulebook claims is a good score. It’s a nice game, but I only get to play solo or two player, and I have a feeling I would rather play Glass Road. So it’s a weird one for me, and I think I might not keep it. I love the theme, but the game play doesn’t excite me admixture as I expected. I think I have other Uwe games I prefer. I want more point swings. I want to feel like I can get better at the game, or I need some variety.
