For those of you wondering which screw bit to use, it is a P5 pentalobe. In a pinch you could also use a 1.5mm flathead screwdriver.

thank you. My pops didn't want to bother me with troubleshooting his laptop so he brought it to a shop and it came back inoperable. I saw a mounting screw missing for the internal SSD so I pulled it out entirely and it felt empty. This video confirms the same guts as this laptop ssd drive.

Thanks to this video I was able to accurately tell how much space I had in my Dell Wyse TCPC. So by screen capturing the shot where the SSD is open and then sizing it in my photo gallery to the exact size of the drive that's in front of me I was able to not have to open mine and void the warranty before knowing if it would fit. Dell has gone through an inordinate amount of effort to make sure that you can't upgrade these hard drives to something that would be substantial enough to use it in other ways.

I am just curious, what are the copper contacts on the other side of the ssd board? The "front" are the contacts for the SATA connection. On the opposite side there are 2 sided contacts. What are those for? The contact are located inside the casing which is weird. My best guess is it is for heatsink or maybe some kind of electrical current protection. So it is probably in contact with the casing. Maybe I am wrong. Looking back at the video it doesn't look like it will touch the casing.

is it possible to replace the grey part if when plugging in the sata cable it bent and broke the smaller grey backing off and wont stay plugged? what is that part called? can anyone help me?

This is a very weird one... I have a laptop where the coin cell is flat, and it's right next to the hard drive bay. If I can free up enough space for a coin cell holder in the hard drive bay, I can obviate the need to, at great expense, purchase another non-modular battery.

This is a useful bit of information. As long as I can still otherwise securely fasten the storage device, I suppose that un-casing it will be a viable option for freeing up that space?
