The First Computer Song Ever. Is it creepy? #science #technology #music

The computer in question was the IBM 704, which was one of the first computers capable of generating sound. In 1961, John Kelly and Carol Lockbaum, two engineers at Bell Labs, programmed the computer to "sing" the song. The computer's voice was produced using an early form of speech synthesis, which involved generating a series of tones that were then shaped into words using formant synthesis.

The resulting performance, which is often referred to as "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)," was a landmark moment in the history of computing and technology. It demonstrated the power of computer-generated sound and showed that computers could be used to create art and music.

I don't think this voice is creepy, I find the TikTok text to speech voice creepy

I hate how some people use this song to scare people

First I did thought that this was a scary song but when I saw the lyrics I felt lied to, this is a piece of history, the first ever singing computer, lyrics are so sweet, its about a male showing his love to his soon-to-be wife

The "It wont be a stylage marriage, I cant afford a carriage, but you look swet on a seat of a bicycle built for two :)" is so sweet 😭

This give me chills, like the good chills you feel when you’ve seen something beautiful. Just imagine being one of the people who saw that in person. Absolutely amazing.
Also I love this song, top 10 easy

Some people think it's scary but some decade ago several engineers are happy to heard that

Imagine spending several hours into hand-coding these machines to sing for you only for the recording to be labeled as creepy or unnerving. I'd be jumping around the lab knowing that such advancements are possible, crucial to future generations. Hats off to the people who made the IBM 7049 sing. I may not know them by name, but i will always be proud of their work. :)

When this was first recorded it must have felt like a technological revolution

The accompaniment was easy, because the could tell a computer to generate a, for example, 750 hertz sine wave. The vocals were harder. You couldn’t tell it to just sing, you needed to tell it what vowel sound to make, and it was a lot harder. This was groundbreaking back then.
