In this video, we'll build up this Italeri reboxing of this classic ESCI's F-86E Sabre in 1/48 scale. I definitely had some challenges with this kit, but in the end I think we've ended up with a pretty solid result!

Nice work on the Sabre. You got the best out of that vintage kit. Too bad there wasn't a pilot figure. Planes look better populated. Hahaha! Happy modeling.

There was one of these in a town square my grandparents lived, used to walk by it all the time as a kid, thanks for the reminder. Great build Hank, oooof that warp situation, interesting to see how you delt with it.

Learning lots! Cheers

Iconic aircraft, tastefully decaled, and beautifully painted. Really great overall finish, quite impressed with cockpit detailing. ATVB . Scott Somerset UK

Hey Hank, this build looks great!! I love the end result and the weathering is just perfect!! Also, if you haven't been to the National Museum of the USAF, you should go, it is in Dayton Ohio and the Memphis Belle is fully restored there!! They also have a whole hangar full of missiles and one with space stuff, there is also a lot of jets from early ones to the YF-23 and lots of others!! I highly recommend going!!

Great build. I am going to have to go back and look at your video on the sludge wash as I want to try that on my next aircraft. Cheers

I like the 2 aluminum, colors. I just got the old Monogram F-86 from the 70s off of Ebay. I built the kit as a kid. I am going to try your technique.

i use the vallejo liquid mask to cover faces and hands of 1/35 scale figures i build after i have painted them
it allows you to paint the rest without worrying about getting any paint on the hands and face
just remember to spray the face and hands with a bit of matt varnish to make sure you dont remove any paint before adding the liquid mask
ps nice build pal

Great job on a tough build, Hank! TAMIYA is creeping towards this era with their recent high-profile jet releases. I hope they get into the late 50's/early 60's with that stellar engineering..

I built the Hasegawa version, she came out sweet.

Another great build! However, I would use a gloss black base coat for natural metal to get some extra shine. I also have heard good things about alclad acqua gloss as a varnish for metal coats, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. maybe on the Tamiya P-38j when it drops.

Great video! Who makes the cradle for holding the jet?

Hang on a mo while I put down my Ruby Ale, don't want to spill any. Great stuff Hank, amazing finish, I remember having an airfix kit when I was a kid a thousand years ago, didn't look like your one though, can't think why! Anywho have you dabbled with weathering pencils. I would really like to know your views.
