HIPAA: protection and use of US health information

In this talk, Joe Saul will explain what researchers need to know about HIPAA, the U.S. federal regulation which provides a floor for the protection of individually identifiable health information in the U.S. He will discuss what kinds of data fall within the definition of “protected health information,” lay out different options for using health data in research, and cover appropriate security precautions.
