On 20th September 1996, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, the brother of then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was killed as a result of a shootout between the police and his gunmen. Dr Shoaib Suddle, who was the DIG Karachi at that time, shares details of the event and controversies that followed.

He thinks people are nuts to believe in his concocted story that the only eyewitness committed suicide. The SHO involved was killed with his own pistol while he was being guarded by four security personnel. Murtaza was alive for two hours after being hit but they did not take him to a well equipped hospital. I mean there are hospitals in every corner of the city, how long does it take to shift a fatally injured person to another hospital specially when there is almost no traffic?

Moreover, there are thousands of people who have their guards armed with state of the art weapons, nobody goes after them. Plus he admitted that they were carrying licensed weapons but still police specifically target them. Where in the world does that happen? Why was police after him when it was proved that he owned those weapons. I have become sceptical of Bibi’s role in this. Why does the whole investigation give this impression that she was complicit in this fiasco and that she hid the truth to protect herself and her children.

This whole story sounds more like a underworld Bollywood saga than a real life even. The police officers were certainly killed by their colleagues who were on payroll of their masters. And expecting the culprits to investigate themselves is probably the biggest joke of the century. In west, even in our country, when a police officer is accused of anything they are suspended until the enquiry in completed and they come out clean. The culprit are still at large and reaping the rewards of their crimes by being promoted to highest position and granted ministerial positions in the governments.

He has left many things unclear in his dipiction of the event. He also portrayed himself as very calm when bullets were shot on his house and were passing over his head. Anyone would have run for his life at that moment, how he remained unmoved is suspicious. His laughs are very strange here when he is narrating killing and suicide.

There is definitely something amiss here, why did Dr sab not try to gather more information from the SHO when he came to him asking for more security. The way Dr Suddle is dilly dallying and beating about the bush indicates that he knows something which he is hiding, this I am afraid puts a big stain on his much hyped about legendary reputation. Honestly I am disappointed with this guy after watching this interview.

Judging by the numerous contradictions in his 'simple' explanation its evident that he really has gotten old and cannot be trusted as a reliable narrator. Though the whole story does indicate presence of layers within layers in the whole plot.
