1st of all....thank you for discussing WOMENI am over 50 female....rarely does anyone talk about women in shtf....except as medic, cook...etc.
and no one
Takes a woman serious in survival women could actually be the ultimate in
(Men figure women are no physical threat) especially a "mom appearing" older woman.
That.... could give women an element of surprise!
Especially if she is proficient with firearms or defensive tactics training. (PPCT)

One old man's advise:
Young or old, disguise your gender. Don't wear shoes obviously for females. Do wear shoes you can sprint in. Somewhat loose clothes, not baggy. Control long hair. Sports bra, maybe two. Don't show décolletage, much less cleavage. Don't use makeup. Dye that peachfuzz on your face dark to resemble a 5 o'clock shadow. Walk like a man. Etc.

Later: Still got any of those shoulder pads gals used to wear? Use 'em.

As a senior and disabled female I have started ordering things to come straight to my door. ‘This cuts down on being out there! I stay very aware of my environment around me. I am also a prepper and have been for years. If something happens I don’t have to go out there.

Another great video. Yes it’s a hard question. It’s not an easy trying to blend in if you have ANYTHING about you that sticks out. No pun intended. I recently came back from a 3 day trip to NYC. It was my first time there and I really tried to make it a point to blend in. Massive fail. Every street performer, pan handler or just the average New Yorker would home in on me out of every one else in the group. I’m 6’ and 250 lbs. “What’s up big man” was the most common interrogative. So I can imagine how much more difficult it would be for a woman who has certain “distinguishing features” to go unnoticed. I guess I just need to work on my trade craft more.

Young women are noticed. Middle aged women are ignored and are greyman.

Women have been the best clandestine operatives since time I would say. A women doesn’t have to make too much of an effort at changing appearance in short time from looking hot to dressing down. Males may find it hard to change easily from one environment to another in a short period. women can utilise factors to gain access far more easily than a male and to gain access to areas during an op. Grey women have been around along time especially during WW2.

3:50 : Hide any distinguishing features that may...um.... stick out.... <hand gestures at chest level>. Totally a subconscious action, but found it funny as hell!

part of me debates over making my appearance look more androgynous/unfeminine to avoid the male gaze/ the notifier of "that's a woman" since that is a signal/classification someone can register me as, BUT ALSO it could alert people too much if it's _too obvious_ I'm trying to hide something, thus alerting people of being atypically unfeminine.
So would it be better if I looked like a feminine girl, just a very average, typical kind? I feel like that's not optimal since someone is still going to register "cute girl" regardless.
So my conclusion for women (at least younger ones, since I see a lot of older women on here) is that some combination of a shapeless silhouette (whatever passes as casually baggy clothes for your environment, whether that be sweats, or clothes that are just one size too large, nothing that defines a particular shape.)
I have naturally dark thick eyebrows that shape my face, and noticed that when I wore my old glasses with thicker rims, they covered my eyebrows and cheekbones, which obscured my coworker's perception of my face, as opposed to when I had them off, making me look like a different person.
So anything that can obscure the line of your eyebrows/face shape, like thicker glasses, is good.
Shapeless silhouette, average glasses, minimal or no makeup, appropriate comfortable low-heeled shoes like dark tennis shoes or a short thick closed-toe heel if required.
And if you're able to, mess with the appearing age of your fashion. If you're clearly an adult, dress _older._ If you've got a younger appearance, play into that while leaning harder into a masculine look.

Of course my wife has still not made the commitment to carry a ccw. But when have worked on situational awareness and about learning how to identify people who don't quite belong. Then assess why they don't belong and if they are a potential threat. To me those are the "gray man" skills treating every day errands like a SDR . the look and blending in is the second part .

Considering the obesity rates in the USA, larger frame people actually have an easier time going greyman.

Great breakdown jack, i think this helps everyone be a better "greyperson, " should the need or desire come up.

Tbh, if I was a female. I'd try to actually be a greyMAN. Hide the hair under a cap, where a top and bottom that hides your figure. Stuff like that. Even a greywoman can be noticed still.

My wife could blend as an older woman, but since she's mostly home as a retired person not a worry but she is a force to be reckoned with with club or gun.

Quick question for anyone why do people want to be a gray man or woman? Does this protect you from predators? Last week a man tried sexually assaulting me while I was on a walk I got away but can being a gray man help men not notice me? I have bright purple hair I think I dress normal.

having short hair really helps and wearing a beanie or baseball cap with short hair really helps

Think a follow up video can be done with a woman playing a greyman like you did? Maybe a woman who has military or government background?
