Running Bryce Canyon Ultramarathon (100 Miles) - Racing 450 Miles in 21 days
Показать описание
Follow me as I raced 450 miles over the past 21 days - finishing with Bryce Canyon Ultramarathon. Along with Antelope Canyon Ultramarathon and Zion Ultramarathon - Bryce Canyon Ultramarathon 100 miles wraps up my Vacation Race Triple Crown in 2024.
In this ultrarunning documentary, I go through ups and downs as I am facing this challenging race. 100 miles with 15,000 feet of elevation gain, and at altitude. But the real challenge here is that 1 week before, I was racing Cocodona 250 miles...and 1 week before that Mt Fuji 100 miles.
Post-Cocodona interview by Mountain Outpost :
In fact, I was not planning to run Bryce Canyon Ultra Marathon this year. Recovery was too short after Cocodona 250, so I decided not to register despite having already completed Zion 100 and Antelope Canyon 100. But I kept my eyes open. And if by any miracle I could be recover in time, I'd simply go and race it with the sole and only goal to finish under the 36 hours cutoff.
Well, it turns out that for once, work was collaborative! A reasonable 40 hours week meant that I could focus on recovery and bounce back quickly from Cocodona 250. After a few days, it was clear that although I wouldn't be 100% back (obviously), I would be 'good enough'. The main issue coming into the race were pre-existing blisters, and my elbow inflammation.
As I did with Cocodona, I decided to compare my watches one last time. This time however, I didn't bother charging the Coros after Cocodona - so I started with 35% (vs. 100% Garmin). Spoiler alert - they both made it! #TrainWithCOROS @COROSGlobal
I was also testing some Joe Nimble shoes on this one - Trail Addict Pro-R. #flyabovereason #toefreedom #runabovereason @joenimble
It was a tough race for me - with very low energy. But overall, very glad I did it! And now, very glad to have some rest.
Next race is Bighorn 100 miles June 14
As always - Thanks for watching and remember -
Work Hard!
Believe in yourself!
Push your limits!
