Firefighters Gain Containment as CZU Complex Fire Grows to 57K Acres

Fire crews are making progress Friday night on the CZU Lightning Complex Fire in the Santa Cruz mountains with some containment, but unfortunately more homes have been lost. Sergio Quintana reports.

I love seeing people doing their own fire protection. There is a release form a resident can sign so they can stay. I have heard nothing about it on news reports.

I wonder how they judge 2 percent containment from 3 percent- best of luck to all involved- looters are the biggest pieces of low life trash- I hope they get prosecuted bc taking from those who could lose all is just so wrong- plus pulling resources to deal with them is double messed up

Not surprised ! After the flood of 82 I’d forgotten my purse I had to go back and as I walk in my house I caught a woman in my bathroom stealing my favorite perfume! It took 3 men to hold me back to prevent me from beating the crap out of her- we had fled and hadn’t licked our doors- normally no thefts ever- she was not from our area! These are profesional looters! Shoot them!

Humans are humans with limitations. So no one should blame the expansion of the fire on a particular group. Fire hydrant can't be everywhere but fire can be everywhere.

Would it be a good idea to create fire breaks and defensive space before any fires start instead of waiting for the fire to be roaring down on you?

God bless the CA's FIREMEN, and their equipment... their lives are always in danger I've seen this fires from a nice distance, powerful fires! And I experienced, a nice strange earthquake... In matter of eighteen months I stayed in LA

The miracle from our Good God is that we have beautiful wonderful firefighters and sheriff and police and first responders to fight the fires and help people get out! So much fire and very few deaths, that is the miracle. I pray, the weather changes with rain. Also, Thanks to the brave additional helpers from other parts of state and country! Good job of reporters too and hwy closures.

At 2:35, those looters weren’t very smart. They just had to pretend to be protesting and it would’ve been ok.
