I have used a TBI intake on a 360 83 van. Used the Holley 2 bbl that was used on some 360 truck & van engines. Worked OK but I had trouble making a choke system that was workable. Eventually went to a Q-jet 4 bbl intake & carb that had an electric choke. The TBI intake worked quite well with the larger 2 bbl, seemed to be a good design but the one I had came off of a 360 so it was a bit larger than the one you are using. That Stromberg will flow quite a bit more than the little BBD.

Casey, thank you so much for your contribution brother! That looks really good. Especially to the manifold I sent in! There's a huge difference between the two...unreal that they changed that much in 2 years! The first dual plane you're working on Charlie is from a 1987' 250 RamVan with 302 heads. That's why I thought it would be a good plenum for the project. Sorry to have you grinding away on such a turd 😅..I didn't know! I'm excited to see the numbers on the throttle body plenum

Back when I had a '66 Belvedere with a 318w I remember seeing those Stromberg carbs and dreaming of putting one on my car. Amazing you found one sitting new in a box.

The 2bbl Holley 2245 that came on the 360’s is a great carb. I always ran those on my trucks.

That is a 318 manifold you can tell by the small ports I'm pretty sure 340 has the same size intake ports the roof is much higher, as far as I know the challenge was to use stock parts and that is a stock part

A big hand and hats off for Casey! He and I have been conversing on intake choices as well.
The biggest fly in the ointment here is the factory 318 2 barrel induction setup for years was nothing more than a carryover from the 273. It was the quickest and most cost effective way of doing the LA retrofit to the 318 to begin phasing out the poly. If the end to that goal was more power output, then it’s possible that the early 318 specific intake could have been very similar to the later TBI intake. It’s also possible that the intake port and valve size would have been a little larger, too. A more realistic project guideline from the onset would have been a 360 2 barrel intake with a 1968 and later 383/400 Carter BBD rated at 365 CFM.

This is such a cool project. It kind of shows what those of us that have run stock eliminator have gone through to make hp, except stock is more limited. I wish that This manifold and larger carb were considered, because if 99.9% of car guys saw it they would think it was factory. I can’t wait to see how it flows.

It's a shame that the Impossible 318 project never materialized after all of the work that you put into it.
