If you imagine god having certain characteristics, he has exactly the characteristics you imagine him with. Amazing.

When inventing a God the most important thing is to claim it's invisible, inaudible, and imperceptible in every way.
Otherwise people will become skeptical when it
- Appears to no one
- Is silent
- And does nothing.

I just walked into a Ferrari dealership and told them I'd be driving off in the Ferrari SF90 on the showroom floor. The salesman seemed skeptical but he wasn't rude. He asked me if I'd be paying cash or needing a loan. "Neither", I explained. "I have spiritual money - the greatest conceivable kind of money. WAY better than spacial/temporal money. It's even worth more than your car, because the car is made of mere matter that exists in spacetime, so really I'm taking a big loss here. You should thank me!"

So yeah anyway, long story short I'm driving my new Ferrari right now as I type this. Thanks WLC!!

I think a spirit is like an alcoholic beverage or something

What I got out of WLC's speech was: "I imagine some entity. Now, because I imagined that, I will make up more stuff about it. I can't prove any of it is true but I don't have to because faith. And I expect other people to totally accept what I say as true."

Good f-ing god.
If he abandoned even _one_ of those idiotic "omnis" a whole host of issues go away. But nooo, billy wants his god to be the biggerest and bestest and hyuuugest and mostest tremendousest, that its _less believable_ than most comicbook characters.

Craig's primary (some would say only) skill is defining his god into existence using a combination of misunderstood facts and the vaguest terms possible.

“Spirit” is simply the ancient explanation for why people need to breathe to live

Craig's whole argument seems to be something like, "There are a bunch of properties we'd like a god to have. And because it wouldn't make any sense for anything real to have these properties, we're just going to assume god is something entirely dissimilar from the rest of reality because we want him to exist."

Is this a PragerU video? It certainly has the "If A equals B and Be equals C, then A must equal Q" vibe of one.

2:26 Not only is the bar in which Craig keeps his spirits awfully low, it starts off with a blatant lie too. Pneuma refers to “breath”. The bible writers thought air was magically enchanted. 🤷😏

Isn’t Craig considered one the smarter apologists? Jesus Christ 🙈

If there's just one chance in a million that some fool will fall for the Kalam, Billy's going to take it!

The only fine-tuning I'm able to see is the fine-tuning of apologists' imaginations to make up any random stuff that suits their needs.

The best explanation of spirit I ever heard is from Aron Ra. We now know that air is physical because it’s composed of gases etc. etc. but the ancient didn’t know that. They word pneuma or spirit, as we translate it, was the breath. It never was something “immaterial”. It was invisible and it had power to animate things because living things breathe and once the breath leaves the body the body dies but it was in no way “supernatural” in our modern sense. It was how they understood nature to work. Ofc they thought that this mysterious life giving breath was of divine origin but it was still a component of our physical world.
I don’t know if I got the explanation exactly right but I hope the concept is clear enough. I’d like to link Aron Ra where he goes into more details but he has too many videos for me to find the right one. Sorry.

I remember listening to ProfMTH back in the day. I was hoping you bringing him up was a sign of his return.

Damn, it's been so long I had practically forgotten about ProfMTH. Such a great OG atheistic channel.
Crap, I'm old. Thank you for bringing back the memories. I hope he's happy.

0:30 Actually, the original meaning of 'pneuma' was just air, as in 'the breath of life'. Using it for 'spirit' is a later addition.

Yay! Much love for ProfMTH! Man, I really mis the early days of Youtube. Some of the best folks are long gone.

Also, it's incredible to hear ProfMTH's voice again. I also occasionally recommend his videos, and his absence is a loss to everyone.
