The Last Waltz (2002)

¡IMPORTANT!
If anyone thinks they have footage (audience or professional) or an audience recording that no one else has (or that I haven't published) and wants to make it public, they can contact me.
¡IMPORTANT!

I never liked that they shortened the songs so that the movie didn't last that long, or at least they could have given them as bonus material for the 40th anniversary

No song conveys the deep and abiding sorrow of the loss of love for me more than this gut-wrenching ballad. Garth's soprano sax solo at the end is magnificent.

It is Rick's vocals that are so haunting in this song. Perfection.

This song is perfect. And Garth Hudson's soprano sax solo at the end has me in tears every time. Genius.

It’s been said before but Rick Danko, Robbie and Levon, it doesn’t get any better. This is one of the best country rock ballads ever written and performed. One of my all time favorites

This was our wedding song. We had been through so much prior to getting married, including both of us feeling just what this song describes. 32 years together this month. Thank you gentleman.

Man, I love this song. I always have and always will. Can't believe they edited out the black and white verses for time. Thank you for the enlightened look at a favorite tune. Stampeding cattle, they rattle the walls. Poetry, thanks for posting the full video.

Wednesday August 9, 2023. The world is mourning the loss of Robbie Robertson, who died Wednesday at 80.
Guitarist and songwriter for The Band, Robertson was the driving force behind the group's string of iconic hits in the late 1960s and early '70s, including "The Weight", "The Shape I'm In", and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down".
Following news of Robertson's death, celebrities have been taking to social media to pay tribute.
Among those honouring Robertson's memory is director Martin Scorsese, a longtime friend and collaborator, who issued a statement to NBC News.
"Robbie Robertson was one of my closest friends, a constant in my life and my work, " said Scorsese.
"It goes without saying that he was a giant, that his effect on the art form was profound and lasting, " he added.

In 1976, Robbie knew The Band would disband . I believe this is his way of saying I love you guys to the other 4 members by writing this song ! Rick's greatest vocal performance of his brilliant career .

The music from this era will never be equalled, for those of us who grew up n this time we are blessed to have had this music as a part of our lives then and now. For me it is a source of enjoyment and comfort that has lasted for many many years.

I only learned a few years ago that many of the songs from the concert had been abridged for the film. To find the full version of this stone cold killer is one of my most treasured musical discoveries.
