The First Alert Weather Team has decided to continue First Alert Weather Days through Saturday as this long-duration heat wave continues. In addition to the heat, there will be more chances for showers and thunderstorms across Mid-Michigan Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Friday will be much like Thursday with high temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90º. A mix of clouds and hazy sunshine are expected for a good portion of the day. Once again, mid-afternoon into the evening hours, we will be watching the radar to see where thunderstorms bubble up today. Like Thursday, any thunderstorms that do develop in the afternoon could produce damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall. Any storms should settle down after sunset and patchy fog is possible overnight. Lows tonight will once again be near 70º.

First Alert Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole is at the News 10+ Digital Desk to talk about what’s ahead.
