Alberta’s top doctor announced Thursday that the province is modifying its COVID-19 symptom checklist for school-aged children starting Monday.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw explained anyone with any of the core symptoms — fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste, loss of smell — must still isolate for 10 days or test negative for COVID-19 and recover from all symptoms before resuming normal activities.

However, Alberta Health is removing runny nose and sore throat as symptoms requiring mandatory isolation and testing in children.

Hinshaw said if a child under 18 years old is experiencing only one of those symptoms, they should stay home and have their symptoms monitored for 24 hours. If their condition improves, testing isn’t required and once they feel better and their symptoms have disappeared, they can return to normal activities.

However, if they have more than one symptom, they should be tested for COVID-19 and stay home. This change takes effect Monday and applies to all settings children under 18 are involved in, including sports cohorts and child-care sites.

For the love of God, why will you not talk about the probable link between Vitamin D/Zinc deficiencies and negative outcomes/death? It is disgusting that the evidence is becoming so overwhelming and still no mention of it! You are responsible for not telling people about it, especially Vitamin D where overdosing is extremely difficult to do.

Omg & they wonder why ppl are so confused about what to do🤦‍♀️Try explaining this to someone who barely speaks English on top of that. Ive been following this virus since the beginning & even I'm confused about the new "symptom checker paramaters" for our kids regarding isolation, testing etc & I'm pretty well versed in healthcare.*smh

If we had zero cases these people would come out and still tell us to worry. And be scared. And fear.

Watching Alberta and COVID-19 is like watching a movie - pretty entertaining. Kenney talks about keep the economy open... I can't wait until he has egg on his face and throws egg on the faces of his supporters when the numbers are so crazy that he'll have no choice. Yes, you can wait and see but tell the families of the people who lost their lives along the way. Of course, if he admits there will be causalities along the way, then I will give him props for being honest. Yes, he will a huge backlash but at least he would be honest that deaths do not matter in his province - only infection and recovery rates. It's funny how he and the anti-maskers don't realize that they are the ones who are actually preventing the economy from recovering quicker LOL LOL LOL A short-term band aid is not going to help your people and businesses.
